Student Learning Courses

Undergraduate students have the opportunity to work with elementary school students and teach them the excitement of scientific discovery. The following courses include hands-on, inquiry based learning programs led by undergraduate students:

  • Marine Discovery (ECOL 450)
    Marine Discovery is an outreach program at the University of Arizona designed to teach Grade K-8 students about the importance of our oceans.
     
  • Sonoran Desert Discovery (ECOL 464/564)
    Student-developed workshops for the public about local desert ecology and natural history. 
     
  • Physics Discovery
    Undergraduate-led program teaching elementary school students the excitement and wonder of physics. For more information contact Prof. Srin Manne in the Physics Department.
     
  • Insect Discovery (ENTO/EIS 596A)
    Insect Discovery is a University of Arizona outreach program designed for 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders. Elementary school classes come to the university for a two-hour workshop that uses live and preserved insects to teach concepts in biology using inquiry-based methods.
